Allie Sloan (MHFST, MFHT, MGHT, VTCT, SAC Dip., CYQ, UKRF):
Hello and welcome. My name is Allie and I'm a Registered Massage Therapist, Natural Beauty Therapist, Nutritional Advisor, and Fitness Instructor.
I'm Registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare professionals, supported by the Department of Health, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), the International Council of Health, Fitness and Sports Therapists (HFST), and The Guild of Holistic Therapists (GHT).
I strive to offer the highest standards of professional support and treatment in order to help my clients find a state of natural health and wellness through massage, nutrition, fitness and complementary therapies.
A bit about me: I have a career background in publishing, marketing and graphic design, but in 2002 at the age of 30, I decided I needed to shift my work/life balance and pursue my passionate interest in nutrition, fitness and health. Having nearly 20 years of swimming and a decade of strength training experience, I took formal fitness qualifications with the YMCA, so I could share my experience and help coach others, as well as undertaking a number of qualifications in diet and nutrition, weight management and sports nutrition.
Fitting all the study around a demanding marketing job was extremely difficult, but incredibly rewarding. So after qualifying, I then went on to study for a diploma in massage and therapeutic bodywork to compliment my coaching work. I was immediately drawn to massage. I strongly believe in its amazing recouperative and therapeutic properties and, as such, I've trained in a variety of massage disciplines and am continually pursuing ongoing study in the field of massage, therapeutic bodywork, and natural health. I'm currently undertaking an advanced diploma in Sports Massage, and then plan to pursue clinical level Manual Lymphatic Drainage training. I've also undertaken numerous in-depth anatomical training courses including postural assessment and correction, and hands-on musculoskeletal analysis in a College Hospital dissection lab to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the body. This path is a continual and extraordinary journey of discovery!
I haven't left the marketing career behind me though, as I now run my own design and marketing agency specifically supporting individuals, businesses and organisations in the complementary, natural health, fitness, beauty and wellbeing industry. Jon Sloan 3rd Dan Sensei, Karate & Tae Kwon Do:
I'm a highly experienced martial arts instructor, holding 3rd dan black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan Karate. I have 30 years formal training experience, and 10 years teaching experience, and have competed and won medals at National level. I now specialise in 'bunkai', the true application of Kata relating to real-life situations. I have had the privilege of training under some of the world's best modern Karate masters, and am currently undertaking my 4th Dan in Karate. I'm also a qualified Law Enforcement Training Services (LETS) instructor.
I'll soon be launching my own website on Karate and bunkai, including tutorials, teaching and training, and dispelling some of the myths surrounding the 'old ideas' of traditional bunkai. Sorry, but I'm not currently offering Karate or martial instruction at this time.
I also have a background in marketing, and am managing director of a design agency and comic publishers.
